MGS Spring Writing Workshop!

Hi, all! Thanks so much for your words of support! You’ve convinced me to stick with it, though my posts may be far and few between. I will be seeing another doctor in June, maybe sooner if there’s a cancellation…and am hoping that he will have a solution to make my online time much more comfortable. In the meantime, I wanted to remind you of the Maine Genealogical Society’s spring workshop to be held on Saturday, April 21st, from 9AM to 4PM at the Augusta Elks Lodge on Civic Center Drive. If you’ve ever wondered how to put your family’s history on paper and bring it to life, this is the day for you! Joseph C. Anderson, editor of “The Maine Genealogist” and MGS’s “Maine Families in 1790”, and co-editor of “The American Genealogist”, will be your guide to assembling your notes, using writing as a research tool, submitting your work to publishers, etc. Joe will be joined by Deb Nowers, who is scheduled to do a presentation on her family heirlooms and the inspiration they provided for her writing. Registration fees are $45.00 for members, and $55.00 for non-members; to sign up, go to the Society’s website: https://maineroots.org.. Hope to see you there!

About Emily Schroeder

Greetings to everyone who’s into genealogy! I’m Emily Schroeder, and I’ve been at Maine State Library since 1980. I just retired this year. My latest incarnation transformed me into the genealogy specialist. I got to visit other libraries and do genealogy workshops, have classes onsite, teach adult ed., write newsletters, join genealogy groups, and generally try to keep myself “in the know”. I’m hoping that through this blog we can share ideas, review resources and databases, and maybe introduce something new to readers in the genealogy field. You can always e-mail me at: buffywg@yahoo.com.
